Guilford Family and Friends,

Thank you to everyone who participated in our annual Ugly Holiday Shirt/Sweater Day! It was so much fun seeing all the creative clothes everyone put on to help us have some fun!

With only 3 days left of school, we want to remind you that if your child is missing any clothing, please remind them to check out our lost and found. I will be putting everything out on tables in the front hallway to make it easier to spot missing items. Anything left over will be taken to the donation box.

I sincerely hope that everyone has a wonderful Winter Break. Please make sure you stay safe and healthy during this time. When we return to school on January 3rd, please be sure to keep students home that are showing any symptoms and not feeling well and alert our health room. We are working hard to ensure that all students and staff are wearing their masks at all times, washing their hands, and that we are keeping everything clean. We need to work together to keep our kiddos healthy!

My door is always open. If you need anything please do not hesitate to reach out to me or Mrs. Guide.

~Mrs. Lannon, Principal

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

Vaccination Clinics

Through a partnership with the Howard County Health Department and several local pharmacies, HCPSS is pleased to provide students ages 5-11 the opportunity to receive the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine. Visit the HCPSS website to view upcoming clinic information and make an appointment.

Art News

Starting January 3rd, fourth graders will be making an art project made from recycled materials. I'm looking for donations of materials you are no longer using.  For example: plastic water bottles, egg cartons, toilet paper and paper towel rolls, empty soup cans, random junk, broken toys, small old board game pieces, old puzzle pieces, beads, or old decorations. The students are making an animal sculpture out of these materials, and I'm really excited to see what they make! ~ Thank you, Ms. Buckler

Close Adult Support for Special Needs Students

We are in need of 3 adults to hire for this position. For the close adult support position, you would apply through an outside agency that staffs these positions in our schools. The position is for 6-hours each day, Monday-Friday and we currently need to hire 2 people. We also frequently need subs for this role, as well. Click here to learn more and apply.

Quarantine Procedures

The close contact and quarantining procedures that were put into place last year will remain this fall. Only unvaccinated students and adults who are identified as close contacts must quarantine. Vaccinated students and staff will not be required to quarantine unless they receive a positive test or are displaying symptoms, but are expected to monitor their symptoms closely for the 14 days. Instructional supports are in place for students who must quarantine.

Additional Benefits of FARMS (Free and Reduced Meals)

FARMS eligibility provides discounts for summer school, recreation programs, Maryland Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP), internet programs, SAT and ACT tests, and much more. Families must submit a new application every school year.

Any student who has not filled out an application up to the 30th school day will have their prior year status changed until a new application is received.

Parents/guardians are highly encouraged to fill out the applications by October 15th. Apply for school meal benefits the easy way. MySchoolApps is the fast and secure way to apply for free and reduced meals online. www.myschoolapps.com
