Note From Mr. Davis - 10/24/18

Fri, 10/26/2018 - 10:06am

Fall is definitely here and things at Guilford have not slowed down one bit.  We hosted an outstanding Girls Night Out evening last week.  Our students were so excited to bring their moms, aunts, and grandmothers to Guilford for an evening of fun.  Thanks to all who participated.  In November, we are excited to host our annual Boys Night Out evening as well.

On Tuesday, Oct 30th, all students will participate in our Turkey Trot and Fall Fest Celebration.  This is always an exciting day, watching our students push themselves while running to reach goals they've set during PE class. The Fall Fest activities are enjoyable and a great way for our students to interact with so many parent volunteers.  We will end the day with a Fall celebration in the teams.  If you are willing to volunteer on Tuesday please let us know.

Just a reminder that Guilford, like so many other elementary schools does not celebrate Halloween.  All costumes and candy should stay at home, students should not come to school dressed up or wearing any costumes.  We encourage those families who celebrate to be safe as they travel throughout the neighborhood on the evening of Oct. 31st.  We are reminding students to travel in groups, to carry flashlights, and to check all candy before eating it.  We hope this is a wonderful evening of fun.

On Tuesday, Guilford hosted 12 principals and Central Office staff members.  During their visit they viewed our students involved in morning community circles and math instruction.  They were extremely impressed with not only the instruction but the students.  They shared that our students were so incredibly kind, sharing example of positive and supportive comments they overheard throughout their visits.  This feedback makes this principal proud!

Have a great rest of the week!
