A Note from Mr. Davis - 9/13/17

Thu, 09/14/2017 - 11:36am

It has been a wonderful first week back at Guilford Elementary.  We are so excited everyone is back and I believe most of our students are excited too.  They have been excellent during this first week and it’s great to meet so many new students as well as catch up with our returning Guilford Tigers.  They have so much to share about their time away this summer.

We continue to live our motto of Excellence in Action each day!  We challenge our students to Be Engaged, to Persevere, and to Collaborate throughout the day!  We hope you will take time to talk with your child about how they are living our motto.

Our teachers have been spending time getting to know their students both personally and academically.  Teachers are conducting community circles as a way of building a community within their classroom.  During a community circle, students are encouraged to but not required to share, each teacher has a “talking piece” which allows whoever holds it to do the talking in the circle.  We encourage all students to be actively engaged in listening to their classmates throughout this community time.  As the year progresses we will also use circles in response to classroom issues or student concerns as well during instruction.  We hope your child has talked about these circles with you.

Thank you to all those families who have completed their Family File, we still have 120 students who need their information updated.  Please do this immediately, by visiting HCPSS connect www.hcpss.org/connect so we have the most recent emergency contact information for your child.  If you have any questions, please contact the front office at 410.880.5930.

Join us for Coffee With Administration on Friday, September 15th at 9:30 in the cafeteria.  This is a great time to talk directly with the school administration to hear what’s happening at Guilford and to ask questions.  We look for to seeing you on Friday.
