Note From Mr. Davis

What a wonderful time of the year!  Our students, your children, are so excited about having time off for winter break!  The staff continues to teach, to encourage, and to engage them in learning each day.  All students will receive their Quarter 2 Interim Reports today, please take some time to talk with your child about their progress.

Today, we welcomed the Maryland Science Center to Guilford.  They presented an engaging program titled, “Science With Us!”  where our students learned about the scientific method and saw numerous experiments.  It was great to see our students surprised as a rubber ball shattered after being frozen, a balloon shrunk and then fill with air, to see how light can be divided, and to experience the fireballs created during the chemistry section.  There is still time to complete a Science Fair project, information can be found on the GES website.

We hope our students will continue to find time to read over break!  Look for the Reading Incentive information listed in this newsletter.  We hope everyone can find time to participate.  Don’t forget about Math during the break.  Students can access their Dreambox accounts from home.  This is a wonderful interactive math program that students use during their math classes at Guilford and is easy to use at home as well.

Finally, we hope everyone has a wonderful Winter Break!  Whether you are traveling or staying around, we hope you are able to relax and enjoy time with your family.  I know our staff is excited about slowing down a bit and spending time with their families.  After this wonderful break, we look forward to everyone returning on Wednesday, January 2nd.

Have a wonderful break!
