Note from Mr. Davis 2/14/18

Wed, 02/14/2018 - 12:24pm

What’s happening with this weather? It’s clearly been hard to know how to dress each day.  Don’t forget that wearing layers helps cover all temperatures we experience each day.

Thank you to the PTA for their continued support in so many ways.  Specifically, for supporting our weekly ROAR carts, the students love it!  In addition, they purchased a Touchless Thermometer for the health room.  We can’t do it without you!

We had a busy day today!  100th day of school…I can’t believe how fast the year has gone.  Thanks to all the students who dressed up like they were 100 years old!  Not only did we celebrate the 100th day, but we also celebrated Valentine’s Day.  As one kindergarten student said, “I can’t wait to share my cards and snacks with my friends.”

Congratulations to our fifth grade students who competed in the BSAP Unheard Perspective Competition.   The completion included 18 schools and was held at Wilde Lake Middle School.   Jordyn Bennett, Angel Bentsil, and Jane Mhonda all earned gold medals for their presentations.  Way to Go Ladies!

Guilford is nominating Cheryl Akers, Math Support Teacher at Guilford for the Maryland Council of Teachers of Mathematics Math Leader Award.  She continues to do an amazing job supporting our staff and students.  She can be found each day, co-teaching in most of our math classes.  If you have any information or a celebration about Mrs. Akers that you would like included in the nomination packet, please email me this information directly at jonathan_davis@hcpss.org.  Thank you and Good Luck Cheryl!
